In an interview with Gamespot, EA COO Peter Moore let it slip that Star Wars Battlefront won’t have a single player campaign.
“…very few people actually play the single player on these kinds of games. That’s what the data points to…”
Granted in other first person shooters like EA’s other shooter Battlefield I’m not that interested in the story mode of a generic soldier, but this isn’t Battlefield, this is Star Wars Battlefront and I am certainly interested in a single player story mode.
Also, as a consumer, I’m not a fan of $59.99 games cutting out single player modes. Granted this game is shaping up to have a ton of multiplayer content, but still, games like Call of Duty, Halo, and other first person shooters have a ton of multiplayer content yet still have an expansive single player story mode.
However, I’m not going to condemn EA and DICE for this just yet. Being an EA Access member I’ll be able to try out the game five days in advance and I’m looking forward to playing it in November.
Star Wars Battle Front drops on the Xbox One, PS4, and PCs on November 17, 2015.
