Gears of War: Ultimate Edition Review in Progress

Delta Squad is back in this updated version of the original Gears of War that made it’s debut from Epic Games on the Xbox 360 back in 2006.  This rendition of the game however was not developed by Epic as Microsoft purchased all rights to the franchise on January 27, 2014 and have handed off development to Canadian studio The Coalition.

I think this remake serves two purposes, one it introduces us to The Coalition who are currently developing Gears of War 4 for the Xbox One, as well as giving us the game that helped push the Xbox 360 into the console lead of that generation.  Not that Gears of War: Ultimate Edition will be a console mover (though it might help).  This game also feels like a bit of a director’s cut to the game.  We’re only a few hours in (and granted it’s been nine years since I played through the campaign) but there seems to be some more content added to the cut scenes.

Nelson and I are diving head first into this game and we’re hoping to have an in depth review up on Friday.  Either way my initial reaction is that this game takes me back to all the fun I had playing this game back in 2006.
