If you can’t find your PS one copy or can’t wait for the PS4 HD remix developer and publisher SquareEnix is giving you another way to play their RPG classic Final Fantasy VII. Being released today on iOS for Apple devices you can now relive what is arguably one of the most popular RPG’s ever.
Some cool features to the game are that you have the option to turn off random battle encounters, which is a god send for these older JRPG games. There are times for some reason you can’t go two steps without a battle. And, unlike other games SquareEnix has brought to the mobile device market they aren’t forcing you to use wonky touch screen controls, instead opting to add a virtual controller.
The game is out today, though not yet available in the US, right now it seems just to be in New Zealand, so the roll out is slow, and on the NZ page it is $19.99 which is roughly $14 in US dollars, so currently I do not have an accurate price to quote (though $14-20 seems about right). Also the game takes up about 2GB of memory but requires 4GB to run.
If you’re JRPG fan odds are you’ve already played this one but reliving it on a mobile device isn’t a bad way to relive it since you can play it now while stuck on the train going to work, waiting on a flight at the airport, or really just anywhere to pass the time. So if you can’t wait for the remake and want to venture off with Cloud and the gang again this port is for you.
