Resident Evil VII: Biohazard is out today and is getting pretty good reviews so far. Right now as of writing it is sitting at an 86 on Metacritic which is it’s highest score since Resident Evil 4.
Since we’ve established that the game is pretty good that creates a dilema on which system should you buy it for. I’m sure you’re saying, “tell me which has the better graphics and frame rate and I’ll get that version” well it’s not that easy. See, the game has exclusive features for each console.
For the PS4 version of the game you can play the entire thing in VR. Granted you have to have PS4 VR and to note, many critics have said when playing in VR the game looks like a very good PS3 game, not a next gen game and can cause motion sickness. However, many critics say the game is more terrifying in VR so there is that plus. Also playing in VR you’ll probably want to be playing with a PS4 Pro.
So now you’re saying “VR on the PS4! What could Microsoft offer me that would sway me away?” Well hold on, I’m going to tell you. For the Xbox One, Resident Evil VII will be apart of Xbox’s Play Anywhere program, which means that if you buy the game digitally from the Xbox One store you get the Windows 10 version for free, which means you can play on your PC. So you play the game on your console at home, but then have to go on a trip, you bring your laptop, and boom your game and saves are on there and you can continue while on the plane or at the hotel, or where ever. So if you don’t have a PS4 VR but do have a gaming laptop this might be a better option for you. Even though the titles are sparse on the Play Anywhere, those who have taken advantage of it with Quantum Break, Gears of War, ReCore, and other MS games have enjoyed the feature.
PC wise, no exclusives if you just buy it from Steam or other online marketplaces (other than from Microsoft), and also in this day of age with AAA console games being ported to the PC you might want to wait to make sure it works since that has been a problem recently.
So there you have it folks, the pros of buying the game on the various platforms, the ball is in your court? So what platform do you plan on buying it for and why? Also do these exclusives matter in your purchase? Let us know in the comments below.
