This weekend we at Clash of the Nerds were sad to hear of the passing of a good friend and fellow podcaster B Meeks.
I had the distinct pleasure of being a guest on his podcast “Agree to Disagree” on a few occasions, in which the title of the podcast always felt ironic to me since Meeks and I almost never disagreed on anything. Usually the topic, be it sports, video games, comics, or the WWE, we usually had a similar opinion to one another.
The first time I was on his show I had never been a guest on a podcast and I didn’t know what to expect and I was nervous as hell. Instantly Meeks made me feel at ease and quite quickly the “interview” felt like I was talking to an old friend.
I hopped on Meeks’ radar because of my “Why I Hate” column on Goingfor2.com, which for those of you who aren’t familiar with that column of mine, it’s a satire column where I basically about any and everything in sports. We had a lot of fun with that first podcast and because of that he had me on a couple more times.
In my last appearance on the podcast Meeks made it a point to promote this site, which is still burgeoning in the interwebs, and Meeks has been a huge help for that. He not only promoted it on his podcast but also retweeting many of our articles and actively going to the site and interacting.
But aside from all of that I considered him a friend even though we never met face to face. We’d interact regularly on twitter, chatting about sports or video games. In fact this past Friday he and I were talking about me coming on the podcast next Sunday and him coming on the Clash of the Nerds “Let’s Play Cast” and play some Halo in the near future.
To all of Meeks’ friends and family out there we send our deepest sympathies and the world truly has lost a unique voice in the world of sport, one sadly that never got to reach his full potential. However, he does live on through his podcast, I, in fact listened to a couple of our talks today just so I could hear his voice again. Meeks we’ll miss you but we know we’ll see you again in Valhalla.
