Wow, just wow, where do I start with yesterday’s Nintendo Direct?  Well I guess I’ll do the opposite of what Nintendo did and get the biggest surprise out of the way first.  Cloud from Final Fantasy VII is coming to Smash Bros. in 2016 as a downloadable character, and boy is he coming with a lot, like a FFVII stage, Final Fantasy music, Chocobos, and summons.  Holy hell, I can’t wait for this.

Also 2016 will be the 30th Anniversary of the Legend of Zelda series and Nintendo has a lot planned for Link.  Not only will we be getting previously announced titles like Zelda Wii U and Hyrule Warriors port to the 3DS, as well as free update for Tri Force Heroes (Dec 2015), but Nintendo announced The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess HD on the Wii U which will be bundled with a special Wolf Link Amiibo and the game’s sound track(preorders thru are already sold out).  This Amiibo will not only unlock features in Twilight, but will also unlock secrets in the New Wii U Zelda game.  Also you can use all previous Zelda Amiibos in Twilight.  2016 will surely be the year of Link and Zelda.

Pokemon will also see some big titles in 2016 like Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon for the 3DS which you play as Pokemon and not the trainers for once, also for the 3DS on February 27, Nintendo is re-releasing Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow for digital download.  Me I’m excited about this.  This was my Pokemon game, because kids, back in my day we only had 151 Pokemon, so I’m excited to play this game again, you know without having to find a Gameboy and 4 AA batteries.

The Wii U won’t be left out of all the Pokemon fun either though.  Team Tekken from Bandi/Namco has been working with Team Pokemon on a new fighter for the Nintendo Wii U entitled Poken Tournament which looks to combine the worlds of Tekken and Pokemon into one badass fighter.

Some other note worthy items Super Mario Maker is getting a portal site to help you find user created levels you might enjoy.  Star Fox Wii U has a release date now of 4-22-16, Mario Tennis is out next week and will offer 4 player couch co-op and Amiibo support, we’re getting 3 new Fire Emblem games for the 3DS and Dragon Quest VII is also coming to the 3DS.

This was a big Nintendo Direct and we only scratched the surface, check out the video below for the entire content.  I’m looking forward to many of these games, especially Zelda.  What about this announcement got you most excited?  Let us know in the comments below.
