Fox Wants to Reboot Firefly

Lately the television division of Fox has been in a nostalgic craze as of late.  Last year they brought back X-Files, and this year will see Prison Break coming back along with a new 24, and just recently Fox Broadcasting President of Entertainment, David Madden told Rotten Tomatoes that he’d be interested in rebooting Firefly if Joss Whedon were interested in joining the fray.

How nice of him to say he’d only be interested in doing it if Whedon, you know the guy who created, wrote and directed the show (and movie) wanted to be involved.  However, I’m calling bullshit on this.  If Fox thought there was money to be made on a Firefly reboot and Whedon didn’t want anything to do with it they’d still do it.  However there could be legal loop-holes to jump through as Fox did the show but Universal Pictures did the movie so there could be some wheeling and dealing involved.

Also, why reboot the show, we never got a true conclusion to it, yes we got Serenity, but that didn’t “end” the series completely it was just Whedon’s way of giving fans closure.  He could pull a Dragon Ball Super and take what we got from the movie and expand it like Super did with Dragon Ball.  Only time will tell, but with so many false starts for new Firefly I’m going to say that this will never happen, but tell us what you think about this and if you think we’ll ever see Firefly back on the small screen.
