Sunday January 15, former WWE Superstar Jimmy “Super Fly” Snuka.  Dwayne Johnson (some of you might know him as the Rock) announced it via Twitter at the behest of Snuka’s daughter and WWE Superstar Tamina.

Snuka was remembered by the WWE on RAW last night with a segment where they showed various Tweets from superstars past and present, and a few video segments with Tamina, Seth Rollins, and maybe Super Fly fan #1 Mick Foley, all discussed what an amazing wrestler Snuka was.

However, outside the ring Snuka had his demons (as many do), on May 10, 1983 in Allentown, Pa, Snuka’s girlfriend Nancy Argentino died.  Snuka claimed to have found her with reportedly saying puss was coming out of her mouth (other reports said Snuka’s story changed depending on who he talked to) and an autopsy later determined Nancy’s death was a homicide.

Snuka was never charged wither her murder in 83 even though a month prior he was charged with assault against Nancy.  Snuka was finally charged with the murder earlier last year but a judge through out the case stating Snuka wasn’t fit to stand trial.

Nancy’s two sisters spoke with The Morning Call and said that Snuka’s death does not bring closure for their sister’s death, but had justice been served it might have.

We here at the Clash pass zero judgement on Snuka, we don’t have the evidence (shit I was only 4 months old when the murder happened) and it isn’t our place to say whether he murdered Nancy Argentino or not.  We  do believe though you should choose to remember Snuka the way you see fit, me, the two images that always pop to mind about Super Fly, is of course him on top of the cage at MSG and then the infamous Piper’s Pit segment where Roddy breaks a coconut over his head.
