I’m back with the usual reviews, I’m gonna keep the complaining about filler to a minimum today because I started 2 new series this week! So let’s get started.
The two new shows I started watching this week are Gate and God Eater. Gate unfortunately I’m only on episode 2, they’ve currently got 10 episodes up but hopefully I can catch up this weekend. Gate takes place in modern Japan. One day a gate appears in the shopping district and suddenly hoards of trolls, orcs and various other creatures, from a land in my opinion similar to Westeros, start flooding through and attacking. It’s an interesting show so far. they really haven’t introduced the main hero yet though I believe it will be a member of the Japanese defense force, they have introduced seemingly the main villain, who is the King of the world beyond the gate. Episode 2 features a great conflict between the “Armies of Man” and the Japanese Defense Force. This show is definitely worth checking out If you like Sword Art Online (its got that kind of vibe to me) Here’s the Plot summary from Anime News Network:
A gate appears in Tokyo’s Ginza district sometime in the 21st century. From the gate pours out monsters, knights from middle-age Europe, and other fantasy-like beings, and they kill many of the citizens of Tokyo. This event is known as the Ginza Incident. The government sends a small group of soldiers from the Japanese Self-Defense Forces to the alternate world beyond the gate. Led by otaku soldier Yōji, they find that the villages in the world are being attacked by a dragon. An elf girl who is a survivor from the dragon’s rampage joins the group in their travels across the dangerous new world.

God Eater is another show I started recently. It’s only 3 episodes so far (4th will probably be out by the time of this post) If you are into Attack on Titan, you might want to check this one out as it has a similar premise but the execution is different. Here’s the description from Aniplex:
In the early 2050s, unknown life forms called “Oracle Cell” begin their uncontrolled consumption of all life on Earth.Their ravenous appetite and remarkable adaptability earn them first dread, then awe, and finally the name “Aragami”.
In the face of an enemy completely immune to conventional weapons, urban civilization collapses, and each day humanity is driven further and further toward extinction.
One single ray of hope remains for humanity.
Following the development of “God Arcs”—living weapons which incorporate Oracle cells—their wielders are organized into an elite force.
In a world ravaged by mad gods, these “God Eaters” fight a desperate war…
Based on the videogame hit series by Bandai Namco Entertainment, the animation studio ufotable has adapted GOD EATER into an anime. Directed by Takayuki Hirao (Kara no Kyoukai 5: Mujun Rasen , Magical sisters Yoyo & Nene).

Dragon Ball Super, there’s really not much to say about this week’s episode that I hadn’t said for the past few weeks, same sh** as Battle of the Gods, Different format, but we’re in the homestretch. I’d say 2 – 3 more episodes and then we’re back to new material. though if you ever wondered what Videl looks like as a Super Sayian, then check this episode out.
