Last night’s Game of Thrones revealed the worst kept secret in television history, but before I dive into the episode, keep in mind this will have a ton of spoilers so this is your one and only warning, if you haven’t seen the episode click away and come back later, please come back later.
So with that out of the way, Game of Thrones season 6 episode 2, What just happened? Well the big news took place at the Wall with the Wildlings coming to save those still loyal to Jon Snow in a battle that consisted of a Crow shooting a Giant in the shoulder and that Giant grabbing the Crow and smashing him into a wall. That was the start and end of the battle.
Then of course the Red Woman was recruited by Sir Davos The Onion Knight to use her powers from the Lord of Light to resurrect Jon. She didn’t believe in herself anymore and didn’t think it would work, and it didn’t, at first. However, as everyone but Ghost left the room and just before the episode ended Snow awoke and gasped for air.
So what does this mean? Well I think he’s been resurrected and not as a White Walker. For one his eyes weren’t ice blue and the Walkers seemed to just get up, where Jon gasped as if he’d been underwater, but will Jon be messed up from this or will he return to being good old Jon? Also, technically his watch had ended since he did die, and there are spy photos showing him in Stark garb and not all in black? Once Sansa reaches him (probably soon in this season) will he march towards Winterfell and take his place as the ruler?
Speaking of Winterfell, Ramsey Bolton continues to be a bastard. He’s taken the most hated character throne from Joffery and has run with it. With the news of Sansa escaping Ramsey’s hounds, Ramsey wants to storm the Wall and Roose Bolton was strongly apposed to that. Then immediately following the elder Bolton shooting down his son’s plans they learn that Roose’s wife had just given birth to a son and Ramsey feeling threaten kills his father, and then feeds his step mother and step brother to his hounds. I’m sure this will not sit well with Walder Frey (Rob Stark’s murderer) when he hears Ramsey killed one of his daughters.
We also see Bran and the Three Eyed Raven traveling back in time through a vision to see a young Ned and Lyana Stark, as well as a young Hordor who at one time could actually speak more words than his name, so I wonder if we’ll get more of these visions of past Winterfell and what actually happened to Lyana that started the war that brought Robert Baratheon to the throne.
Some lesser things that happened in this episode were growing tensions between the Lanisters and the Sept and Tyrion bonding with the Dragons (well two of them), the Iron Isle looks to be on the verge of a civil war, also Arya has been accepted back into the faceless house so we’ll see where that goes.
So dear reader, what did you think about last night’s episode of Game of Thrones? I really dug it and look forward to more. Well let us know in the comments below.
