Greetings loyal readers, did you see the new Captain America: Civil War trailer this morning? Well if you didn’t, click here, and if you did well them I’m here to fill you in on what we learned from it.
First up, this Civil War, unlock the comic story that shares its name, will not be about super hero registration. Most of us figured that already because I believe that all of the identities of the current MCU roster are known to the government, and most of the public, the only one who’s identity is probably still a secret to the general public might be the Hulk and well Daredevil and probably Spider-Man.
So what’s it all about then? Well from what the trailer would lead us to believe it’s all about Bucky Barnes, a.k.a the Winter Soldier. When we last saw good old Bucky he was wreaking S.H.I.E.L.D’s shit and causing a lot of damage to my hometown of Washington D.C. (a point to Ironman’s side for that), but in the end he did save Cap from drowning in the Potomac River (and possibly becoming a super mutant like in Fallout, that shit is toxic folks), so it would lead us to believe he remembered who he was, and then the trailer confirms that.
The plot, as it appears in the trailer is that the US government (and maybe S.H.I.E.L.D) is after Bucky and it doesn’t look like their orders are to bring him in alive, so Cap being the moral compass of the MCU wants to save his best friend, he and Falcon come to Buck’s aid and thus making themselves fugitives along with Bucky. Iron Man is called in to handle it and of course War Machine.
At some point the rest of the new Avengers minus Black Widow team up with Cap and it looks like Black Widow is siding with Iron Man, we also get our first glimpse of the Black Panther in this trailer (no Spider-Man, sorry) and by all leaked accounts he sides with Iron Man, the suspected reason is he’s hunting the Winter Soldier as well.
The set pieces in the trailer look fantastic and I like the direction Marvel is going with the Captain America movies, with the whole super spy Jason Bourne theme it has going.
The movie is out this May and we here at Clash can’t wait!
