TMNT 2: Possible Spoilers

Be warned this article will contain possible spoilers for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, I say possible because if you watched the cartoon back in the 80’s and 90’s what I’m going to post here shouldn’t come as a shock to you.  But again, you’ve been warned, spoilers below.

In a recent interview with the Chicago Tribune, former WWE Champion (and all-around awesome guy) CM Punk (Phil Brooks) revealed that he auditioned for the role of Rocksteady in the upcoming TMNT2 film.  The role would later go to current WWE Superstar (and Mr. Money in the Bank) Sheamus.   Here is what Punk had to say.  And here’s your last caution, spoilers, below.

“I just assumed Sheamus is a bigger dude, so they gave it to the big guy. It makes sense. They were looking for two big, muscly bouncer types. Sheamus fits the role. I think they end up getting mutated half way through. You didn’t hear that from me, though.”

This shouldn’t come to any surprise to fans of the old cartoon since Rocksteady and his buddy Bebop get mutated into a Rhino and Warthog, respectfully, by the Shredder, so us fans assume (and hope) that will happen in this movie.  I mean why else have them in there.

Having Punk as Rocksteady would have been pretty cool and added an edge to the character.  After all the character is supposed to be a street punk and well that is who Punk is in real life.  Plus the way Punk has a way of saying things gives it an extra edge that he used quite successfully in the WWE.  I’m not sure how Sheamus’s Irish accent will play as a New York City punk, only time will tell I guess.
