Sony is Truly Out of Ideas

Sony’s film division has been in trouble for some time now and it all came to a head with their emails being hacked.  For some reason they kept messing up their license to print money Spider-Man, seriously how do you mess up one of the most recognizable super heroes on the planet (WB knows), so now we’re on the second reboot of that franchise, not to mention the Ghostbusters reboot (the one no one asked for).

Sony is desperate for a franchise, they took a nice one-off comedy in 21 Jump Street, which is a reboot of sorts of an old Johnny Depp TV show, and made a sequel that was basically a remake of the first one (so much so they mock the fact in movie itself) but in college, and now they’re making a third one that is going to cross over with Men in Black.

Given that MIB 3 was met with tepid response from fans and critics it had looked if that film franchise was over, but apparently not.  This could be the making of a pretty funny franchise or a disaster (Sony’s record with 3rd movies has not be good) so we’ll have to see.

However, this isn’t about the possibly awesome or awesomely bad Jump Street/MIB, not this is about Sony’s recently announced Emoji animated morning.  I thought they were scraping the bottom of the barrel with the Angry Birds movie (considering the game hasn’t been popular in about 4 years), but nope, we’re getting an Emoji movie.

What the hell Sony?

At least with all the shit Sony is churning out, Marvel at least is guiding Spider-Man, one can only hope Sony goes bankrupt and Spidey goes back to Marvel full time.
