Gene Wilder, who is probably most famous for is portrayal of wacky Chocaloteteer Willy Wonka past away today in his home in Stanford, Connecticut. His nephew Jordan Walker-Pearlman said he died of complications from Alzheimer’s disease. Wilder was 83.
A true comedic icon was lost today. Just yesterday Nelson and I were chatting about Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and his turns with Mel Brooks in Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, and the Producers were always movies I’d turn to to cheer me up when I was down, not to mention his five films with Richard Pryor.
Wilder will truly be missed by those who loved him and his films, he is survived by his fourth wife Karen Boyer, whom he married in 1991, and his nephew.
