So last night Star Wars: The Force Awakens premiered and boy was it enjoyable, for a spoiler free review click here, but of course while watching it some theories of mine were confirmed and others were not.  So I decided to go back to see how right I was when I broke down the two trailers.

This should go without saying but from here on out there will be SPOILERS!  So don’t read any further if you want to go in clean.

In this I am going to take my predictions from each trailer individually and not all together.  Also I’m only grading myself on actual predictions I made and not guesses like “oh this could be this or this, or that” where it was me just speculating on a brief glimpse.  So here we go, let’s see what kind of detective I really am.

First up, when I broke down the first trailer, Finn in a voice over said he was raised to do one thing, I said maybe the first order was plucking kids up from a young age to serve as Storm Troopers, and I was right.  So BOOM goes the dynamite there, my first prediction was correct.  Score card please Right: 1 Wrong: 0.

Next prediction, I said Rey was not Han and Leia’s daughter and I was right again.  Boom, score now 2 to 0.  I did say she could be Luke’s daughter, and is she?  Well, we don’t know.  The movie continues to hint at it but we don’t get confirmation.  I elaborate that something tragic happened and that Rey was abandoned there on Jakku to protect here.  In a vision/flashback scene when Rey touches Anikan’s Light Saber we see her basically getting left on the planet in the care of an alien as a ship takes off.  I’m not going to give myself a point there, but that scene heavily hints at my prediction, sadly we’re going to have to wait two years to find out if I was right.

The trailer scene where Poe is is being interrogated by Kylo Ren I guess that the destruction we see is from the new Star Killer base, and I was right, but no points because that wasn’t really a prediction so much as an observation.  I then talk about Poe and Ren’s origin and I’m right and wrong on this.  I said the two could be brothers, and the children of Han and Leia.  I was right about Ren and wrong about Poe.  so a point for each.  We’re now at Right 3 and Wrong 1.

I guessed that Finn would be the main Jedi in this new Trilogy, and well I’m wrong there.  This film shows no sign of him being Force sensitive, he could be in later films but I’m going to have to say that I’m wrong on that prediction.  3 to 2 now.

My next bold prediction came when we saw Rey crying in the trailer over a jacket.  I said it was Finn and I was right.  I said he could be dead, but didn’t really think they’d kill him off, but I was right about who it was, a point for me.  4-2.

Another thing I got right was Finn witnessing something that made him switch sides.  Going into the International Trailer, the score stands Right 5 and Wrong 2.  Not too shabby.

Well after reading my breakdown for the International trailer, there weren’t really any new predictions from me.  I doubled down on Rey being Luke’s daughter, and that it was Finn she was crying over so no points there for either side.

Lastly we come to my article where that addressed the absurd Luke is Kylo Ren theory that people were going on about.  I’m giving myself three right points there because in the article I definitively say that Luke is in self-exile, and he is, he’s in very little of the film, and he is, and that he’s not Kylo Ren, and he’s not Kylo Ren.

So final score, I was right with 8 of my predictions and only wrong 2 times.  Damn I might be the next Sherlock Holmes.

Anyways, the movie was great, I had a lot of fun and can’t wait to go see it again.  Have you seen the movie?  What did you think?  Let us know in the comments below.
