Labeled a sports action game, Watch Paint Dry: The Game, creator Ruby Neeland bypassed Valve’s greenlight process on Steam via a bug.
Ruby had several times tried to let Valve know about the bugs in the system but didn’t get anywhere with them, so he exploited it.
Valve has yet to to respond to Ruby in regards to him exploiting this bug. The 16 year old, yes 16 year, isn’t so asshole hacker mind you, the college graduate has worked with google and Microsoft on finding bugs in their systems.
Ruby said he thought about releasing the game and calling it Half Lift 3, but didn’t because he was afraid of being sued, but man I wish he had. Could you imagine the shit storm had he done that? I would have been great.
If I could offer Ruby a piece of advice though, dude, if you’re going to do this next year, wait two days for April 1st, come on kid, you had one job.
