Uncharted 4 just seems to be that game this generation that keeps getting delayed. It was due out last year but was pushed back to Spring of 2016 and now it’s been announced that game has been delayed yet again. Luckily it’s only been pushed back two weeks to May 10, instead of one of those indefinite delays. The culprit this time has nothing to do with the development of the game (which is always good because constant delay issues like that are almost never good news) but due to a manufacturing issue.
This is kind of crappy when you realize a lot of us buy our games digitally now (me I’m 50/50 on that one) to delay a game’s digital release because you can’t manufacture enough discs, which, in all honesty, we don’t know if they can’t manufacture enough disc because the game isn’t out yet and Sony’s Shawn Layden did not sight preorder numbers or anything of that nature, so to me that sounds like they’re guessing or creating hype.
Me, if I were in charge of Sony I’d release the game digitally on their original April date (kind like how movies now get an early digital release date) to try and push more digital copies out the door (which also means more profit for Naughty Dog and Sony) and they could set a new standard in video game release. If you want it digitally you can get it early.
What do you think dear reader? Do you buy your games digitally or a physical disc. If you prefer a physical disc would a two week early release maybe persuade you to buying the game digitally? Let us know in the comments below.
