Before E3 Sony, unlike Microsoft, confirmed that they would not be bringing their console refereshes to E3 so what would Sony do with their time? Games, a lot of fucking Games is what they did with their time. I’ve got a huge list of them to go through and like with the Microsoft Recap we’re going to list out the highlights here and we’ll be posting trailers throughout the day, so here we goes.
Some VR exclusives coming to the console are Final Fantasy XV VR experience, Star Wars: Battlefront X-Wing VR missions (I’m super excited for this and could push me over the edge to choose PS VR) and Batman Arkham VR. I think X-Wing will work way better than Batman considering sitting down and flying a ship seems less exhausting than being Batman.
Games that we knew we were getting and were at last years E3 include Detroit: Becoming Human from the makers of Heavy Rain (not excited for this) and of course The Last Guardian (from the makers of ICO and Shadow of Colossus) which at this point I refuse to believe it actually exists until it hit store shelves, but we’re finally getting another Prey and Quake so anything can happen. Also a Crash Bandicoot 1-3 PS4 Remaster is coming (didn’t anyone ask for this?).
We got some big reveals as well, even though they were rumored, we still didn’t know exactly what we were getting. God War was shown off and like rumors he’s bearded and taking on the Norse Gods in this one, then we got a look at the PS4 exclusive Spider-man game. The game looks gorgeous and I can’t wait to get my hands on it, however I’m not sure about the suit. Given it’s a game I’m sure (like every Spidey game before it) we’ll be able to earn new costumes and switch them out, but my real fear is this might be the Spider-Man: Home Coming costume. As far as Spidey’s suite in Civil War I thought they nailed it and given that you can see Avenger’s Tower in the skyline I’m pretty sure this game connects to the movie, but hopefully this suit is just for the game.
We also got confirmation of Resident Evil 7 (or Resident EVIl: Biohazard) with a very creepy reveal trailer. The game looks and feels like P.T. which isn’t much of a surprise because once that game was killed by Konami, Capcom was quick to grab up people who worked on that game. However, I don’t know how much of that trailer was gameplay footage so it’s hard to tell how the game will actually play. It’s out January 24, 2017 (three days before my birthday), but PlayStation Plus members can download the demo now (I will do that when I get home).
Probably the last big reveal was a glimpse at Hideo Kojima’s PS4 exclusive Death Stranding featuring Norman Reedus of the Walking Dead (and formally of Kojima’s Silent Hills). This of course was a prerendered teaser and had an eerie feel to it. Of course this game is way, way off, don’t expect much more of this game this year, maybe another trailer at TGS, but as far as release, probably not until 2018. Comeback later for the teaser reveal.
Other games shown were Horizon of Dawn, Bound, Far Point, Here They Lie, Hawken, Days Gone, Dead Bug Creek.
Like I said Sony had their conference packed with games some that intrigue me, some I don’t care about, my personal highlights are RE 7, Spider-Man, Death Stranding, and as far as VR goes Batman and Star Wars.
What did you think of Sony’s press conference, are you a little disappointed that they didn’t give us more information on their 4K console? Let us know in the comments below.
