Another day and another politically correct rage boner by someone because it’s the internet and someone has to be offended by something.
Today’s target, EA and DICE’s Battlefield 1, you know the FPS that is taking us back to World War I. So what’s everyone upset about? No women in the multiplayer, because of course they are.
DICE going for realism with this game and frankly there weren’t any women fighting in WWI so naturally there wouldn’t be any women in the game. “But why not multiplayer?” I hear you asking, and simply put again it would break the realism. “But multiplayer breaks the realism in and of itself,” yes and no. Depending on the game it may or may not, but, most of the time in multiplayer aspects of shooters all the characters you can choose from are sprites pulled directly from the single player game. So to add a female character for multiplayer would be created by a new sprite.
I’m not a game developer so I don’t know how costly or difficult creating a new sprite just for multiplayer so the developing a female character just for this might not feasible. Also I might note, there hasn’t been a female character in multiplayer in a Battlefield or Call of Duty game, so I’m not sure why this is a problem today.
What do you think dear reader? Do you want a female sprite in multiplayer for Battlefield 1 or do you care? Let us know in the comments below.
