The Dinosaur taming survival game Ark Survival Evolved is still considered “early access” and not completely finished (and I’ve played it and yes it doesn’t feel like a finished game) but in spite of that they have now released a paid DLC add on to the game.
The early access of the game is currently $17.99 on Steam and free if you’re on Xbox’s Preview program and the DLC (which is Steam only currently) for $19.99. Many fans are not happy about this since the actual game isn’t finished yet so why is the developer spending time making paid DLC.
This could start a new trend in gaming where developers put out a demo and then start charging for add ons before they even finish the original game.
This has a lot of fans on Steam…steaming… sorry for the bad pun, and they are bombing Steam with a ton of bad reviews for the game. Currently Valve (who runs Steam) hasn’t released a statement on this sort of practice, but hopefully they won’t let it continue. I’m with a lot of these players where it doesn’t seem right for a developer to sell DLC for a game they haven’t even finished yet.
That’s what I think, but what do you think dear reader? Let us know in the comments below.
