No Red Dead Redemption 2 at PS4 Meeting?

The Sony Meeting is today and by all accounts we’ll be seeing the unveiling of the PS4 Neo.  Also there was a persistent rumor that Rockstar will unveil a new installment in the Red Dead series for the PS4 and Xbox One.

However, the new rumor is that they’ll be debuting a remastered version of Red Dead Redemption for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

There are reasons to believe this and not to.  First up it almost certain that Rockstar will be there, to reveal what, we really do not know, if anything really.  They might just be there and not show anything.

However, they’re probably there to show something, and for me it would be hard to believe that it would be to reveal a brand new game.  I believe this for two reasons, one something big like a new Red Dead seems like something Rockstar would want to reveal at their own conference at say Tokyo Game Show or E3, something like that, not at a press conference for Sony where they’re showing off a new console.  Plus I don’t think Sony wants the Neo overshadowed.  So that could me no Red Dead Redemption 2 announcement.

What makes an announcement of a remastered weird is that for one the game looks great as it is on the 360 and PS3 and phenomenal on the PC and backwards compatibility on the Xbox One, so spending money on a remastered version that might not sell well since a lot of people went out and bought the 360 version for their Xbox One.  Honestly what I think Rockstar might announce is a downloadable version for the PS4.  It’s a good announcement for PS4 owners but doesn’t overshadow the Neo announcement.

So what do you think Rockstar will announce tonight, if anything?  Let us know in the comments below.
