Hello Games’ Sean Murray was asked about DLC by Red Bull on launch day if there would be paid DLC for the game and Murray said “…we want to do it for free… So, no, there will be no paid DLC, just patches.”
And now eight days later Murray told the Daily Star that he was perhaps “naive” when saying there would be no paid DLC and that possibly additions to the game might be “too expensive” for Hello Games to do it for free.
No Man’s Sky has seem to be a game where the creator’s reach exceeded their grasp. Murray has made a lot of promises leading up to the release of No Man’s Sky and well, the game is, well just an explore, find, fly, land, repeat simulator. It’s really nothing special. I’ve logged several hours into it and well it’s become something I pick up when I’m bored and really don’t want to play a game I have to invest thought into. There is something relaxing about No Man’s Sky, but it’s not this life changing experience that was promised. Luckily for me, I didn’t pay all the much attention to Murray’s boasts, or let my imagination run wild with it leading up to launch.
