We thought we would have to wait until E3 to find out when Nintendo would let us know when the new system the Nintendo NX would hit store shelves. Well we don’t have to wait until July to find out, Nintendo announced yesterday that the NX would launch world wide in March of 2017.
This is a little bit of a sad announcement since we here at the Clash along with many other sites were holding out for a holiday 2016 release we’ll just have to wait a few more months to get our hands on it. However, Nintendo, who always do some peculiar things has me perplexed with a March release. Generally new hardware doesn’t come out until September of its release year because of the holidays. Releasing during the Christmas buying season usually pushes demand for the systems.
But, on the other hand Nintendo has been reported to wanting to ship upwards for 20 million consoles, so releasing it in March might make sure that there isn’t a shortage come the holiday season of 2017 and might mean more sales.
We’ll have to wait and see how sales shake out for the new console. If rumors are to be believed this could be on par or better than the PS4.
So what do you think dear reader? You ready to preorder an NX? Wish it was coming out this year? Let us know in the comments below.
