The Tokyo Gaming Show came and went without Nintendo mentioning anything about the NX and we all collectively let out an exhausted sigh. The NX is the worst kept secret in gaming and is supposedly due out in March (which is only five months away!) but yet Nintendo has yet to officially reveal it to the world.
In spite of Nintendo’s tight lips there have been a slew of rumors pertaining around the new console. The latest round rumors comes from an anonymous source (shocker) who contacted the moderators of the NX Sub Reddit with some new information.
This source said he works for a major retailer and has access to marketing and pricing so obviously a higher up and not some low level stock boy. He claims to have seen marketing material for the system and has information on pricing. Also, he says this is initial information which could change.
So what did this anonymous source have to say? First up he confirms the other worst kept secret with the NX that it will be cartridge based (WOO!), it will be high def 1080P graphics in console mode and 900P in handheld mode which is very impressive for a handheld. The system itself will support 4K video streaming.
There were also two price points for the launch, a bundle that will cost $399.99 and a stand alone gaming system $299.99. No word yet on what games would be included in the bundle, but The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will launch with the system an there are rumors of a Mario game at launch. So maybe package those two with the system to help them fly off shelves? We’ll have to wait and see. Also current packaging says Nintendo NX so that might be the final name, or just a place holder to show retailers what the packages look like. And lastly it has the tag line “Interact with your games on the go” which would work for this console/handheld hybrid.
So what do you think loyal reader? Does this all seem legit to you, it does to me. Let us know in the comments below.
