Destiny 2 A Reboot?

There are a whole host of Destiny leaks today (for all of it check out the video below from the Know), but the most interesting leak, at least to me, is that Destiny 2 will be a refresh/reboot of sorts.

I’d like to emphasize that this is a rumor so it may or may not actually happen, but the current rumor for Destiny 2 is that it will reboot or refresh the game and story a bit (so much for that 10 year plan), with Luke Smith (the director for the Taken King) taking on the director role for Destiny 2 there will be new technology and story elements for the game, plus massive levels.  One of my biggest complaints for Destiny was how small the levels were and that’s because it was made with the 360 and PS3 in mind, but the sequel is all about the new Gen.

As far as the refresh/reboot one of the biggest questions is whether or not your character and his/her stats will carry over to the new game.  The reason why this has come into question is because of the switch to a new engine for the game, your old saves might not be compatible.  For a franchise that was promised to have a ten year plan and was supposed to be an ongoing things like World of Warcraft the loss of all your saves, plus a reboot that is a bit odd.

So what do you think Destiny fans?  Does the idea of losing all your characters’ weapons and stats make you a bit queasy?  What about a story reboot?  Let us know in the comments below. Also be sure to check out our YouTube page, Twitter, and Facebook pages for all your nerdy goodness.

  1. It will be a refresh along the same lines as year 1 to 2, I’m thinking. Bringing in two more design teams to help with destiny 2 should allow for meeting the date they want for release. Adding the PC market will be cool too, except they will have to really step up their game (pun intended). Game will need to be like 10x bigger at a min. With the road heading towards integration of the two worlds, they will need to make one game and hopefully the console version won’t hold the PC game back. They will need to have, at a min, 60 players per space (too high?) and make the social space just as big.

Either way I’m looking forward to the next adventure with Bungie. They haven’t let me down yet.
