Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice comes out in just 3 days and of course the stars and director Zack Snyder are making the media rounds to promote the film. In one such interview with the New York Times, Snyder was asked why Grant Gustin (who plays the Flash on the CW’s The Flash) was not cast for the upcoming Justice League movie and here is what the director had to say;
“I just don’t think it was a good fit, I’m very strict with this universe, and I just don’t see a version where … that (tone is) not our world.”
This basically translates to “The Flash on CW is fun and enjoyable” as to the new DC movie U where it’s dark and gritty. This actually kind of worries me about The Flash in the movies. Ezra Miller (a good actor mind you) has mostly played young gothy/outsider characters so is that what his Flash is going to be?
Regardless of the story line in the Justice League comics the Flash has always been the more light hearted character, not necessarily the comic relief, but he definitely breaths brevity into the comics, and if Grant’s Flash isn’t the right tone for the Justice League movie, what is the tone they’re going for with the Flash?
So what do you think of Snyder’s comments about the CW’s take on The Flash not being the right tone for the DC movie U? Which Flash do you prefer? Let us know in the comments below.
