File this under “I’m not surprised” as the Steven Spielberg helmed Ready Player One has moved from it’s December 15, 2017 release date to March 2018, why? Because Star Wars Episode VIII: The Search for All the Money moved from May to December of 2017 (because of how much money VII made in that month). Ready Player One not wanting to fall to the wayside smartly moved to March (seemingly a popular month when Disney bullies someone out of their release date, looking at you Batman v Superman).
A lot of people (including my partner in crime Nelson) are eagerly awaiting this movie but I am not. I read the book and quite frankly um, not impressed. I got caught up in the hype but after getting about 3/4 the way through it I realized I was just reading a paint by numbers fantasy quest (and not a very good one) that distracts you with a tons of 80’s nostalgia. So honestly I don’t care about the move because I probably won’t see it anyways because they’ll probably have to tone back on a lot of the stuff from the book due to copyrights so it will have to go on it’s flimsy story.
Tell us what you think about this movie being pushed back? Are you a fan of the book, are you disappointed you have to wait four more months for it? Let us know in the comments below.
