Greetings Nerds! the weekend is upon us once more. You know what that means. Another Saturday Matinee (on Friday). First Let me take a moment to apologize for last week’s lack of a matinee pick. Things were hectic and i just wasn’t able to get one out so this week i’m going to make up for it with a couple of series pick on top of my normal Anime and Movie picks.
Let’s start this one out with one of my All Time Favorite Series (and Josh’s) Ronin Warriors!

AKA Yoroiden Samurai Troopers. Back in the 90’s, I discovered this little Gem one Summer afternoon. It came on at 2pm, and I was instantly hooked. The series followed 5 young men who gained the power of mystical armor. The Ronin Warriors are the only thing standing in the way of Talpa. After a thousand years of exile, Talpa, ruler of the Netherworld, returns to claim the Earth. You can get the DVDs via Amazon. Some Anime streaming sites do have the series as well.
Next up we’ve got Claymore
This was a great anime I discovered on Hulu and it is definitely worth watching. Here’s the Synopsis from Hulu:
A deadly breed of monster – the Yoma – has only one foe: Claymore. These warrior women, human-Yoma hybrids, can deliver salvation by the edge of a blade – for a fee. This is the tale of the Claymore called Clare’s solitary path to vengeance.
Next up We’ve got the Thing

So, I just realized that I may have been a John Carpenter Fan and not realized it until now. The Thing, Prince of Darkness, They Live, Big Trouble in Little China. These are three of my go-tos when theres nothing on. Gonna have to iMDB him to see what else I like from him. Anyway, Here’s the synopsis from Amazon:
In the winter of 1982, a twelve-man research team at a remote Antarctic research station discovers an alien buried in the snow for over 100,000 years. Soon unfrozen, the form-changing alien wreaks havoc, creates terror and begins killing the researchers one by one.
and the last one Prince of Darkness,

Yep, another John Carpenter gem. Here’s the Synopsis from Amazon:
The terrifying battle between humankind and ultimate evil. A group of graduate students and scientists uncover an ancient canister in an abandoned church, but when they open the container, they inadvertently unleash a strange liquid and an evil force on all humanity. As the liquid turns their co-workers into zombies, the remaining members realize they have released the most unspeakable of horrors, Satan himself, thus paving the way for the return of his father.
This is literally the ONLY other movie I’ve seen with the Asian Guy from Big Trouble in Little China. I first came across this bad boy on halloween one year and at the time I thought to myself “Wow, for a movie id never heard of, this is friggin great!” and it took me so long to find it again and now i’m sharing this one with the world.
